After eating at every hot dog place in town, we came up with a crazy idea to make our own artisanal dogs. Our goal was simple: to make delicious dogs without all the junk. So, we partnered up with Iron Chef-winning Neal Fraser. Before we knew it he created the best dogs we had ever tasted and Fritzi Dog was born.
While others dress up their dogs to make them taste good, we concentrate on what matters most. The meat.
The spices. The flavor. The bun. We think you’re worth it.
Recognized as one of California’s finest culinary talents, Fraser began his culinary career in LA at the age of 20 working as a line cook at one of Wolfgang Puck’s earliest restaurants. Inspired by this introduction to the life of a professional chef, Fraser entered the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in 1990.
After graduating and working with the best in the business, Fraser opened Boxer, where he learned the nuances of running his own restaurant. Fraser went on to open Grace Restaurant in 2003 where he earned national critical acclaim for his masterful approach to any ingredient. Accolades included: “Hot Tables”– Condé Nast Traveler, “LA’s 25 Best Restaurants” – Los Angeles Magazine.
In 2006 Fraser opened BLD with his wife Amy. The concept of quick, simple, first-class fare for foodies executed without pretense and big expense was embraced by a diverse demographic. Pulitzer Prize winning writer Jonathan Gold says “BLD may be the most useful restaurant of our time.” Los Angeles Times Food Critic, S. Irene Virbila, says, “Neal and Amy Fraser have a winning idea with BLD.” That same year, Fraser battled Iron Chef, Cat Cora, on Food Network’s Iron Chef America and became the first California chef to win. In 2007 Fraser was named Chef of the Year by Angeleno Magazine.
Fraser is Executive Chef and Partner in Fritzi Dog and is committed to using the best ingredients around to revolutionize the hot dog.
